No satisfaction for Stones lovers

The Rolling Stones have cancelled their Phoenix Park rock concert schedule for August 18, following legal argument by a rival promoter over procedures to be followed in granting a licence to a promoter to use the public park for the pay-in concert.

The concert was to have been part of the Stone's 2006 A BIGGER BANG tour.

Instead the band will now perform in Spain on the Dublin date as part of an international tour.

The legal row may have repercussions for future concert promotions in the park.

Missing man sought by Garda

Gardaí have appealed for help in tracing a 66-year-old man missing in Phoenix Park.

The appeal for information has been reiterated by the Garda on the whereabouts of Seamus Power who was last seen at St Mary's Hospital in Phoenix Park on Tuesday March 21, 2006 at about 6pm.

Mr Power – who is 5’9” tall, and is of medium build with grey shoulder-length hair - was last seen wearing a navy jacket and black trousers.

Anyone with information is asked to contact gardaí at Cabra station on 01 666 7400.

Talking Trees

Parks Supertindent John McCullen gave an illustrated talk entitled ‘Trees and Landscapes of the Phoenix Park’ in the National Botanic Gardens, Dublin on Thursday March 23.

The talk was organised by the Royal Horticultural Society of Ireland and the Irish Garden Plant Society.
